Birthday Blues
June 9, 2007 at 11:43 am by J*B*Two days ago it was my birthday. Yep. I’m officially one year older. Hm. I remember when my birthday was a spectacular occasion. It was an excuse to party. It was full of fun, friends, and drinks galore. I was queen for a day. Now, I am just one year older.
And only a few select people know my true age: my husband (who is older than me! Ha, ha!), my college friends (who share the same dreaded age), and my pets (who have no concept of age, anyway).
But don’t get me wrong. I am glad to have the opportunity to be one year older, what with my scare almost exactly one year ago. It’s just that being over a certain age is difficult for immature individuals, such as myself. In other words, people repeat the phrase, “It’s time to grow up,” a lot more often. Le sigh.
