Let Them Eat Cake! Yummy Plush Dog Toys

July 31, 2006 at 8:07 am by DarlaKitt

Buttercream Cake
I love cake. I love all kinds of pastry, really. All kinds of sweets, to be totally honest. My gigantic sweet tooth has been passed down through generations in my family and, alas, my doggies drool over desserts too.

Since “people sweets” can be harmful to dogs, I was happy to discover this line of dessert-inspired toys, available from Fetch, LLC. Puppies can nosh on 5-inch plush sweet treats like the sinful Triple Truffle Torte, nibble on the more delicate Almond Tea Sandwich, or dive into the divine Buttercream Cake. Chocolate Berry Shortcake
For those who flip for fruit, check out the Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Berry Shortcake, both topped off with a pair of luscious (plush) berries.

Your pup can have his cake and eat it too (or at least chew on it), without it affecting his waistline. Now if only I could find such rich desserts that would do the same for me …

Bargain of the Week: MOM Tattoo Hoodie

July 28, 2006 at 7:54 am by DarlaKitt

MOM tattoo hoodie
So after trolling around the Web for the coolest dirt cheap stuff to feature as this Friday’s “Bargain of the Week,” I stumbled upon this awesome MOM Tattoo Hoodie at Just 4 Pooches. I had to hurry up and snag one for my tough, mama-lovin’ Murphy dog, before I even began to write this post.

I love the old-school 80’s look, with cut-off sleeves and neck, exposed seams, and the “inside” of the fleece on the outside. And the rose and dagger tattoo design on the back simply rocks. But the best part of this edgy dog hoodie is the rose tattoo design on the sleeve, which reads “MOM.” So my firstborn Murph dog can proudly sport my name on his muscle-y bicep, just like a good son!

Oh, and it’s on sale! Half price for $14.99. It’s still available in sizes XS, S, and M, and the sizing is generous. A medium will fit dogs up to 35 pounds, so even the bigger boys can flaunt their mother love.

Biscuits for Bad Dogs

July 27, 2006 at 8:36 am by DarlaKitt

Canine Carryout bag
Okay, I admit it. My dogs are bad dogs. Especially Murphy, but Trudy can be a little devil too. However, she’s still a baby. There’s no excuse for Murph, he’s just an a**hole sometimes. But I still love them like crazy and even bad dogs deserve some special treats.

So Bad Dog Biscuits are the perfect treats for my evil little monsters. They feature a unique menu of fresh-baked yummies, sure to tantalize the taste buds of even the baddest of the bad.

For kitty chasers, check out their Bag O’Cats, peanut butter biscuits in cute kitty shapes. Or if your bad doggie also has bad breath, try the minty fresh Smooch Your Pooch biscuits. But my favorite item on the Bad Dog menu is Canine Carryout, a bag of “burgers and fries” made just for fast-food lovin’ hounds.

If you wanna try them all, sign up for the Bad Dog Biscuit Club, and a fresh package of snacks will land on your doorstep each month, plenty to keep any bad dog motivated to be good (at least for a few minutes).

Harry Barker’s Fabulous Line of Dog Shampoos

July 26, 2006 at 7:46 am by DarlaKitt

As an ex-hairstylist, I’m always on the lookout for fabulous new “hair products” for my precious puppy dogs. We love to try new things, and we are very excited to try the cool line of Harry Barker dog shampoos.
Harry Barker Dog Shampoos

Each formula is all natural, designed to be gentle on sensitive doggie skin. The Shea Butter blend is hypo-allergenic, fortified with coconut and lanolin extracts, and provides the convenience of shampoo plus conditioner in one bottle. To soothe “hot spots” or scaly skin, the medicated Prickly Pear Cactus shampoo cleans thoroughly without stripping the coat of natural oils. Oatmeal is a well known itch-fighter, and the Oatmeal shampoo and conditioner promise to do just that, fight itchy doggie skin gently.

You’ll find the entire line available at The Pampered Pup. Check it out and soon your puppy’s “hair” will look better than yours.

Shimmering Tanks for a Dog’s Night Out

July 25, 2006 at 9:56 am by DarlaKitt

The metallic look of these fantastic Avis tanks from the Ritzy Rover totally caught my eye. I love the feminine shirred neckline and delicate spaghetti straps. Add a beautifully detailed butterfly applique, and we have a great girly design that can go from day to evening in a flash.
