Bed Pal for Your Pal

April 30, 2006 at 8:46 am by J*B*

This item goes into the, “Oh, That’s Just Cute” category. I was surfing The Gilded Paw’s website, a weekly routine for me, and this unique, new cat bed caught my eye. When cats sleep, they love to lean. They enjoy the feeling of being surrounded. It gives them a sense of comfort and security.

BedPal

Dixxy the Cat Bed offers cats this kind of protective comfort. The plush cat-bed shape provides snuggle-up comfort for long catnaps, while the cozy arms and extra-thick padding make this bed super-soft.

But here’s the kicker: Dixxy also doubles as a cat car seat so Kitty can travel with you in any vehicle. No crate necessary!

Don’t get jealous dog-lovers. Read the rest of this entry »

Stylin’ Litter Boxes

April 29, 2006 at 8:22 am by DarlaKitt

As any proud kitty mama knows, the litter box is not usually a very welcome addition to home décor. It’s something to be hidden, concealed, disguised, closeted away in a corner or basement. But for those of us who live in cozy (read: small) spaces, it can be a challenge to find a discreet location.

But these snazzy litter thrones from Modern Tails offer us a decorative solution. With killer designs like the funky leopard print, cool Oasis, and classy Egyptian, there’s no need to hide! These boxes feature a curvaceous shape, high in the back to prevent unsightly litter “kick-out,” and are made of heavy duty, easy to clean material. Read the rest of this entry »

Spring Cleaning for That Smelly Dog

April 24, 2006 at 6:51 am by DarlaKitt

Stinky Dog Shampoo
It’s that time of year again, when even the most lackadaisical housekeeper gets a bit of an urge to throw open the windows and free their homes of winter’s dust, dirt and grime. And of course this includes giving the pooch a good scrub-down as well. With spring rains and their muddy results, doggies can end up looking (and smelling) not quite springtime fresh. So it’s the perfect time to invest in some new, scrumptious-smelling bath products.

Heart of My Heart Pet Boutique carries the swanky Bobbi Panter collection of dog spa essentials for puppy’s bath. Gorgeous Dog Shampoo is for the pooch who is already fairly gorgeous, and may just need a little sprucing up. It contains Vitamin E to enhance doggy coats and skin, with a slight peach fragrance to leave Fido smelling yummy.

If your dog has sensitive skin or is bothered by allergies or “hot spots,” Itchy Dog Shampoo is made with soothing aloe vera gel, chamomile and oatmeal to help heal tender skin while gently cleansing the coat, in a soft green apple fragrance.
Bad Hair Day Shampoo
For those dogs who need a little extra help (like Murphy who enjoys rolling around in dewy grass), Stinky Dog Shampoo does the trick. A natural vegetable protein deodorizer, lavender and rosemary work together to eliminate that unseemly “doggie smell” and leave your little darling smelling fresh and feeling soft.

I’m still learning how to properly care for Mimi’s longer, wavy-textured coat, and the pear-scented Bad Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner in one, for puppies prone to tangles, is a lifesaver. Conditioning and moisturizing jojoba oil, Vitamin E and and aloe vera gel help to tame and soften unruly fur, while a natural lactate detangles and adds sheen. For those super-bad hair days, add Snarly Dog leave-in conditioner for extra detangling power post-shampoo.

Heart of My Heart also offers a handy Sampler Pack, with mini 5oz bottles of each fabulous formula, the perfect size to try out or for travel. Once you’ve determined your doggie’s favorite, stock up with Gallon Sizes, which are extremely economical yet not often available in “boutique” dog spa products.

This is one kind of spring cleaning that you, and your pup, can eagerly look forward to.
