Now that I’m feeling like it’s really winter, with the holiday buzz almost gone and all of my gift cards already spent, my hunker-down-indoors instinct is kicking into high gear. I know some people have difficulties with “winter blahs,” but Murphy and I love, love, love the cold, dark days.

“Why?” you may ask, as if I am a crazy person.

Because it gives us license to snuggle on the couch or in bed, wrapped up in cozy blankets, watching television or reading books for hours on end, of course! No one pesters us to “go outside and do something” or tries to make us feel guilty for wasting a beautiful day lounging around the house.

I always celebrate this special time of year by splurging on new bedding or some new throw blankets and pillows for the couch. I also stock up on lots of new books. What do you think I spent the gift cards on?

Anyway, this year I just had to include the Murphy dog; he deserves new snuggle-duds, too.
