Spoil Your Pet Day

November 18, 2005 at 8:22 pm by DarlaKitt

I’ve been feeling a little guilty lately because I haven’t been spending very much “quality time” with the Murphy-dog. Oh, the excuses abound: it’s been crazy stressful at work, I’ve been dealing with some unpleasant “issues” in my personal life, my car broke down, my best friend is going through a mini-crisis and I’ve been spending an ungodly amount of time on the phone with her…

Unfortunately, all of this crap has taken its toll on my relationship with Murph. He gazes at me with those big, brown, bug-eyes and I just shrivel with guilt and shame. I’ve tried bribing him with extra snacks, but all he wants is some lovin’.

Yes, I’ve been slacking on the dog spoiling. So, I decided I needed a little inspiration to whip my butt back into shape. Enter Dog Spoiling Made Easy .Com. It’s a no-fuss crash course in how to properly spoil your dog, and it’s full of information and great ideas.

From training basics to cooking up yummy homemade dog food to giving your dog a special “spa day,” this site slammed me in the face with the importance of taking a little extra time out each day to spend with my precious little guy.

So, I’ve designated this Sunday, November 20th, as my official Pamper and Cuddle with Murphy Day. I’m off to the grocery store tomorrow to gather ingredients to make him a fabulous home-cooked meal and a fresh batch of cookies, and plan to spend the afternoon curled up with him on the couch watching his beloved Lifetime movies and snacking. (Okay, maybe part of this day is for me, too…)

I encourage all of you to take just a little time out this Sunday to spend with your special pet friends. Whomever it may be, a cat, dog, bird, fish, rodent or reptile, throw a little extra lovin’ their way. Because, believe me, you do not want to wake up one day with a bad case of the slacking-on-spoiling guilt monsters. One poopy-sad-eyed gaze will send your self-esteem straight down the toilet.

Oh, I feel like such a bad, bad doggie mama!! Hopefully, after Sunday, Murphy will find it in his warm doggie heart to forgive me…
