Kissing and Hugging Your Pet

October 21, 2005 at 6:42 pm by LaLa MaMa

Bichon KissA recent Dateline NBC special told us that 63% of pet owners kiss their pets. Well, of course! They need love, too. How can an affectionate person not smother-wother that wittle-bittle?

There is some controversy to it … as well as some nay-sayers. I’m going to lay out the bottom-line positives for you.

Ella’s bottom line: They’re called PETS! Kiss ‘em & hugg ‘em and give them all your love!

Bling Bling Dreams

October 21, 2005 at 12:55 pm by DarlaKitt

Oh, how sometimes I long for a dog who’s a little more sophisticated, a little more fashionable, a little more, well, hip. Alas, my Murphy is none of these things, which makes me a little sad. But, I should have known when I saw his ugly, smushy, slobbery face behind the bars at the local animal shelter that he isn’t the Bling Bling type. I definitely should have known when the kennel worker let him out of the cage, and he got so excited that he peed all over himself. No self-respecting hipster would ever pee all over himself in front of guests.

But, of course, I can always dream.

As I was browsing Boo Boo’s Pet Boutique, my mind wandered to the imaginary place where I’d be able to deck out my dog in fancy baubles and bling. I’d adorn a sleek black leather collar with rhinestone letters that spell out his fave nickname, “Murph Doggie Dogg.” Then, I would add a shining collar charm in the shape of a crown, to designate his regal status.

He wouldn’t yank on the leash as I strutted him down the sidewalk. He’d be smooth and suave, nodding nonchalantly to the sexy girl dogs, who would be dressed up in sparkling necklaces and hairpins.

We’d stop for lunch at a sidewalk bistro, and he wouldn’t try to sniff every person’s crotch who walked past. No, he would lie quietly under the table, letting his big brown eyes scope out the place for that special lady. How would he know which sexy bitch is “the one?” She’d carry herself with confidence and grace, and coyly glance at him with dark, curled lashes. On her head, there would be a jeweled tiara, and he would know that she was his queen.

But, seriously, this would never happen, so all I can do is dream…
