Hamster Love—In Pink!

October 17, 2005 at 8:54 pm by J*B*

So, I talked to my friend the other day and she was like, “Yea, Pet-Pet’s cool and all, but what about us hamster people?! How come we don’t get any love?” And I, in turn, responded in true hamster-ignorance, “There are more of you out there?” She looked at me, rolled, her eyes, and said that this was total hamster discrimination.

Well, we can’t have that at Pet-Pet—absolutely not. We love the little critters! So, to Andrea and her fellow hamster-lovers, we bring to you the Pink Princess Castle Large Habitat by Penn-Plaxx (S.A.M. Down Under) .

Pink Hamster Cage 2

This pink habitat provides posh living for your fuzzy little hamster with multiple levels for climbing fun and plenty of space to eat and spaz out. And another cool thing about this habitat is that it comes with many things you need to take good care of your hamster, like an exercise wheel, a water bottle, and even a brush so you can keep Hammy beautiful! You can find this product online at Petco.com or at any of your local Petco stores.

When I was in College, I had the cutest little hamster named Hamilton. The thing is, he bit me every time I tried to pet him. So, I gave him to someone who really loved hamsters, as much as I love dogs. Hamsters really are sweet and adorable. And despite my negative experience with one, I now realize that there are many, many hamster-philes out there. So to all of you hamster-lovers, I salute your bandaged finger tips!

Bring on the Scents of Autumn

Here in the great Northeast, it’s really starting to feel like Autumn. Vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges are taking over the trees. Evenings are turning chilly and mornings are crisp. Yep, it’s Autumn, and it’s my favorite time of year!

For the Murphy dog and me, the best thing about this time of year is the variety of scrumptious smells of the season. It’s time to put away the cool, fresh scents of Summer, and cozy up to the warm, spicy aromas of Autumn. Of course, this includes updating Murphy’s stock of grooming supplies, and I’m happy to report that there are plenty of Autumn-inspired bath and body products to choose from.

Unfortunately, Murphy hates to get his bath. I don’t know if he’s embarrassed or what, but he always stands in the tub with his big block head hung in humiliation. Hopefully, the delicious fragrance of Bowser’s Spice Handmade Herbal Soap will help to ease some of his water-logged suffering. One of four fabulous scents, this soap is made with cinnamon leaf and lavender extracts, both known for their calming effects. Plus, doggie mamas can use it, too!

And then there’s the pumpkin; Autumn’s most famous fruit. I figured it might be easier to get Murph in the tub if he thought there was a pumpkin pie baking in there. The folks at Royal Treatment must have been reading my mind, because they’ve created Royal Treatment Pumpkin Patch Tearless Shampoo and Conditioning Spray. These products include essential oils of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, and are formulated with human-grade cosmetic ingredients. The Conditioning Spray is great for those between-bath moments when your poochie isn’t smelling so fresh, when company’s coming to visit, or when you’re craving pumpkin pie, but are too lazy to bake one, so you just spritz and smell the dog instead.

Every puppy’s skin needs occasional exfoliating, just like mama’s, so try the luxurious scented Royal Treatment Almond Exfoliating Scrub & Shampoo to keep your precious pup’s skin smooth as a baby’s butt. Just like a spa treatment, this scrumptious scrub is intended to be used once a month to remove dead skin cells and improve circulation.

Of course, I can’t write about the delicious scents of Autumn without mentioning at least one yummy snack, because what’s better on a cool morning than a fresh slice of pumpkin bread? Too much people-food upsets Murphy’s tummy, so it’s lucky for him that I found Simon & Huey’s Pumpkin & Spice treats. Made with all-natural, human-grade ingredients, these treats are perfect for sensitive doggie-tummies.

Now everybody get out there and celebrate the scents of Autumn while you can, because before you know it, we’ll all be bitching about the cold and snow.
